Blessed New Year-2009
We understand also that you might have been going through different challenges irrespective of the continent you come from. Hence, holding our spiritual hands together and shouting praises of victory to our Most high God is our business that becomes priority every hour.
Much as we try to forget all the problems of last year, what God did through us all is worth mentioning for the glory of His name. following are some of these accomplishments:
NB- During school holidays, we usually organize for major activities through church departments. School holidays in Kenya are in the months of April, August and December. However other activities goes on through out the year like evangelism or seminars among others depending on the Areas (rural churches), Urban churches and Mission fields.
1. Vacation Bible school (VBS)- is a training done usually during holidays in all AGC local churches to reach out to primary school children. Bible lessons are taught for one full week and this ministry is plan by Christian Education Department.
2. Youth camps- This is usually done during school holidays targeting Secondary school and college students. Lessons geared towards helping youths to face our modern life challenges through Christ are taught for a week. This is usually done in Area level, Urban churches and mission field. This ministry is under youth department
3. Women's Camp - This is usually done when schools closes. It also takes a week and lessons are geared towards building mothers on family issues, spiritual nourishment and economic development.
4. Men's camp- Some Areas have started this program to target men in which apart from spiritual grounding, they are trained to carry on the ministry as the Lord commanded because a significant number of them are church leaders. The program is done during holidays.
5. Mission Retreat & Conference - This is usually a yearly event that gives all our missionaries get together fellowship, reflection and spiritual nourishment. Conference meeting is designed to create awareness to local churches about mission work and solicit for prayer partners and support. Last year retreat was held at Kenya highlands Bible college where about 49 missionaries and their 18 children attended. The Program is arranged by Missions Department
6. Pastors' Camp- It was a great honor to host blessed teachers from Global Outreach Seminar from USA and Africa. The organization operates under Mission Society. In conjunction with AGC they facilitated a camp meeting for all AGC church leaders done in the first week of December 2008. The meeting was done at Sosiot Girls attended by 710 leaders. The program was designed for mission work in the church in which they explored more on the Great Commission and its practicality in a local set up of any congratulation. AGC having sent 49 missionaries within East African region, the lessons were a wake up call to increase the support for this noble task as well as send more to other parts of the world. The attendance gained new insights about mission. They were so much excited for the hand out materials which would help them extend what they learned to their church congragation. We blessed the Lord so much for the work done by the Global Outreach Seminar team. The program was coordinated under the office the Assistant Bishop.
7.Ordination - During the last day of the church leaders' camp, the leaders moved to cheptenye local church where twelve leaders were officially ordained.
8. Several other activities went on well such as seminars, evangelism, mission outreaches and Christmas plays.
Blessings to all who were involved in one way or the other.
