Earnest and Ann Korir: Kang'olitian, Pokot

The Korirs are Missionaries to the Pokot people of the West.  They are based at Kang’olitiang, a centre of arid land with tribesmen who are pastoralists.  These people within the arid area where no crops are grown since the seasons within Kang’olitiang is dry throughout the year.  Subsistence is based on roots of wild trees because of the dry land, dying animals due to hunger and honey from beehive harvest.

Ann is in charge of the ministry in Kang’olitiang.  She was posted to the station as a pioneer missionary in 2003.  This station was first developed as a preaching point of Turkwel ministry but now is a major mission station with over five local Churches extended to Uganda.

Pastor Ernest Korir is in charge of the station and Adult Literacy Education within the region. His major objective is to establish a Bible Training Centre for the Pokots.  This will develop Church personnel who will enhance discipleship classes and ministry minded servants.

The family (both Ernest and Ann) are graduates of Kenya Highlands Bible College.  They have a daughter – a gift from God through the Pokot group which binds the family to them (non biological).

The current needs for the Korirs are development of the Institution which will serve as a centre for Biblical and Literacy training.
