About the Christian Education Department

REACHING OUT TO  SCHOOLS FOR CHRIST

The Christian Education Department exists to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in churches and  schools and model a live of holiness among the believers.

In conjunction with our other church departments, relevant government institutions as well as other organizations, we promote both spiritual education and academic excellence in our institutions. Over the years, this department has been greatly involved in developing curriculum/programs  that has been used in running various church departments within and without our church.

The department now is in the middle of developing the school policy that will be used in our various sponsored schools. The government of Kenya, through its education Act, gives the church authority with responsibility to see that the schools are run in a transparent and with high moral standards. The church is given four and three slots to fill in both the Board of Governors (BOG) and school committees for Primary schools respectively.

It is my sincere hope that this overview will guide  you in how you pray for us and support our ministries.

Number of  sponsored schools

We currently sponsor  over 340 primary schools and 104 secondary schools. Our sponsorship ranges from spiritual, which is our main focus, to physical construction of classrooms  and other material supply  when the need arise. This is done in cooperation with the community and other stake holders.

What a joy and great  responsibility this is.  Pray and support this ministry wherever you may be: our Areas, Districts, Mission ,locals, WGM, friends etc. Please write to us or call us in person.

Our core ministries

Sunday school ministries

We reach out to young souls– the primary and secondary school children  through availing learning materials and training their teachers. Each Sunday, Sunday school classes are conducted for the young. Bible studies  are carried out for the mature youths and adult in the church. We have also encouraged churches to have Sunday services for Children.

Leadership Seminars/ Conference

We organize church leaders training seminars, pastors camp meetings and conferences. This is aimed at equipping, refreshing , nourishing and empowering the attendance in order to be effective in God’s Ministries.

Catechism

When a person get saved, he is enrolled in a class catechism class for a period of at least one year teaching before he is baptized and becomes a member. If someone had been baptized by immersion in their former church, she/he is therefore mandated to just take the classes.

Vacation Bible school (VBS)

This has been going on for a very long time. Its done usually during the school holidays. Each year thousands of students are reached through this program. The classes are divided into Upper, lower and introductory classes. We have developed over 12 different lessons per each level, which will guarantee that no child repeats the same lesson in the years they will attend VBS.
  School/Youth Ministries

Pastoral Program of Instruction (PPI)

Each our Primary school has a lesson reserved for Pastoral program of instruction. The pastors pastoring a church next to the school is mandated to organize for the person to take the lesson.

Chaplaincy

Each of our secondary school has a chaplain to take care of spiritual life of the students, teachers and the neighboring communities

Peer Mediation program

This is a school program  for high school students. The department saw  it fit, to avert strikes from schools through the Koffi Annan Module that was used in Kenya during the Post Election Violence. We are trying to see that all the schools that we sponsor participate and take this course as one of their core programs in their schools.

Why wait

This is a school based HIV Aids initiative. We traverse all schools within our Districts emphasizing the gospel truth on  ‘Why’ they need to ‘Wait’.

How you can participate

Perhaps God is calling you to be a Chaplain, a teacher or a CE servant!
